Bread That Never Runs Out (devotion)
The Bread that Never Runs Out
Devotion by Pastor Alexander Redd
December 5, 2023
"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'" (John 6:35)
"I am the Bread of Life" is a powerful metaphor that draws our attention from unnecessary distractions to a deeper spiritual truth.
Just as Bread nourishes our physical bodies, Jesus offers Himself as the source of spiritual sustenance and eternal life. He is the only one who can truly satisfy our deepest needs and desires.
Throughout the Bible, there are many stories about Bread. In the Old Testament, God gave the Israelites manna to eat while traveling. This was a sign that Jesus, the true Bread from heaven, would come and give eternal life to those who believe in Him.
In our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in temporary things that promise happiness but ultimately leave us feeling empty. However, Jesus offers something better. He offers Himself as the Bread of Life, the only thing that can truly satisfy us forever.
Just like we need food to survive physically, we need Jesus to thrive spiritually. When we have a personal relationship with Him, He fills us up and satisfies our deepest longings. He helps us through the hard times in life.
So let's focus on Jesus, the Bread of Life, and let Him care for all our needs. We must rely on Him for our spiritual nourishment, knowing that we find true and eternal life in Him. As it says in John 6:35, "Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'"
