"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2).
In Romans 12:2, we are encouraged to change our thinking and not conform to the world's patterns. We need to renew our minds and change our perspective to think like Christ. Before aligning our thoughts and actions with God's will, we must understand His teachings and commands through prayer and studying the scripture.
Surrendering our desires to God's plan requires us to let go of our preconceived notions of what we want and trust in His wisdom and guidance. After that, we must make a conscious effort to live in accordance with those teachings by acting with kindness, compassion, and humility. We can positively impact the world by renewing our minds and living according to our values.
The Apostle John warns us about valuing worldly possessions over God and urges us to stay true to ourselves (1 John 2:15-17). This means making ethical decisions and declining invitations that conflict with our morals. We can also be innovative in our work or school while staying true to our principles.
Ultimately, a Christian mindset should prioritize service, compassion, humility, love, and forgiveness, following the pattern of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:16). We should adopt Jesus' values and beliefs and strive to reflect them in all aspects of our lives.
