Why Do Good People Die Early?

Why Do Good People Die So Early?
Devotion by Pastor Alexander L. Redd

"Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come." (Isaiah 57:1 NLT).

It's important to find comfort in the wisdom of the Scriptures as we consider why good people leave this world too soon. It can be hard to witness the sudden passing of people who live according to God's will and show selflessness, kindness, and a love for serving others. However, we must remember that life on earth is just a chapter, not the end of the story, offering us a comforting viewpoint on death.

This outlook on death, provided by the Scriptures, can bring comfort and hope in the face of death. Similarly, in Philippians 1:21, the Apostle Paul echoes this sentiment. He says, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Paul lived in obedience to God's will through faith in Christ. If you align your heart with God's purpose, death should not be feared, just as the saints of the old didn't. Instead, death is a transition to eternal peace and joy.

For those who live righteously, their passing is not the end but a catalyst for positive change. Their legacy continues to inspire and impact others long after they are gone. Their spirit encourages us to love more deeply, give more generously, and sacrifice for the well-being of others.

Jesus, our ultimate exemplar, died at a young age on the cross, but his resurrection brought salvation to all who believe in Him. The enduring impact of a life lived in devotion to God illustrates the power of faith, grace, mercy, and love. This legacy of Christ Jesus inspires countless generations to live lives that reflect His holy character.

So, when we mourn the loss of a good soul, it is a lesson that their death is not the end. Their spirit and legacy should teach us about the gift of life that should leave lasting impressions of love, compassion, and service. What legacy would you leave behind to inspire others for the common good?

The legacy I would leave behind is to be a source of encouragement and inspiration to others. I hope to leave a legacy of kindness, empathy, and a deep commitment to serving others. I desire and pray that my actions and words aim to bring joy, hope, and positive change to anyone who intersects my life.
