How To Overcome Anger

"Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil." (Ephesians 4:26-27).

In times of anger, it becomes tough to resist acting impulsively or giving in to negative emotions. But taking a step back and asking yourself why you feel this way can lead to personal growth and a more rational mindset.

The Bible talks a lot about self-control and making wise choices. Proverbs 14:29 says, "People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness." Being patient and understanding instead of reacting prematurely to a situation is wise.
Reflecting on your emotions and questioning their root cause or why you feel that way allows you to gain insight into yourself and the situation at hand. It helps you consider if there are deeper reasons or influences behind your feelings.

Even if you don't find immediate answers or uncover past experiences that explain your emotions, simply asking these questions creates a space between your initial reaction and response. This gives you time to think more clearly and make rational choices.

Taking just a few minutes or an hour to pause before reacting can help you respond calmly and make thoughtful decisions. Doing so enables you to build self-control and become a more rational person in the long run.

While it is difficult to resist acting on anger or feeling down, seeking understanding, asking yourself questions, and creating space for reflection can help you grow spiritually and emotionally.

Listen, my friend. Developing patience, wisdom, and self-control are biblical qualities our Lord Jesus Christ embodied, and they will guide you toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
