Radiant Glory of God through Christ
Radiant Glory of God through Christ

"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." (Hebrews 1:3 (NIV)
In the beauty of sunrise, we perceive a mere glimpse of God's Majesty. The vibrant colors and warmth hint at a Creator who delights in splendor and beauty. Yet, the most radiant display of God's glory did not manifest in the natural world but in the person of Jesus Christ.
The author of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is the "radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being." Christ, in His life, death, and resurrection, perfectly displayed the glory of God. He lived a life of absolute obedience to the Father, reflecting His righteousness. He showed mercy and compassion, mirroring God's love. He embodied divine grace and forgiveness in His sacrificial death on the cross.
As followers of Christ, this truth is both a comfort and a call. It is a comfort because, in Christ, we see God's glory revealed - His love, mercy, grace, and commitment to righteousness. We are assured of God's favor when we place our faith in Jesus. We are embraced as His children and promised eternal life.
The call is equally clear. As believers, we are instructed to reflect God's glory in our own lives, just as Christ did. Second Corinthians 3:18 tells us, "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." This means we are to love as Christ loved, forgive as He forgave, and live lives of obedience and service.
As you ponder these truths, take time to marvel at the glory of God as revealed in Jesus. Let the reality of His love and grace fill you with joy, inspire your faith, and motivate your actions. And as you seek to reflect His glory in your own life, remember that it is not about striving in your strength but about yielding to the Holy Spirit, who is at work in you.
Please pray with me:
Dear God, thank you for revealing your glory through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to gaze upon and grasp the depth of Your love and grace. May we reflect Your glory in our lives, showing Your love and righteousness to those around us through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
