"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (Colossians 2:6-7) (NIV)
In our faith journey, we often find ourselves seeking guidance and purpose. We yearn to know God's will for our lives, longing for a sense of direction and fulfillment. Thankfully, the apostle Paul's words in Colossians 2:6-7 provide us with deep insight into discovering God's will – the pathway that leads to a life of abundance, joy, and contentment.
1. Receive Christ Jesus as Lord:
The first step towards doing God's will is to receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. By acknowledging Him as the ultimate authority in our lives and surrendering our hearts to His loving guidance, we open ourselves to experience His transformative power. When we invite Jesus into our lives, He becomes the compass that directs our steps and shapes our desires according to God's perfect plan.
2. Continue to live in Him:
Once we have received Christ, our journey doesn't end there. The key is to continue living in Him daily. This involves nurturing our relationship with Him through prayer, studying His Word, and seeking His presence. As we abide in Him, we become deeply rooted, finding stability and strength to face life's challenges. Our faith grows, leading to a greater understanding of God's will for our lives.
3. Be strengthened in faith:
Living out God's will requires unwavering faith. Our faith grows as we get deeper into God's Word, allowing its truth to shape our beliefs and actions. It is through the knowledge of God's character, promises, and past faithfulness that our trust in Him is fortified. As we encounter trials and uncertainties, we can rely on our strengthened faith to overcome obstacles and remain steadfast in pursuing God's will.
4. Overflow with thankfulness:
Gratitude is the natural response of a heart that recognizes God's goodness and faithfulness. When we are truly grateful, we become aware of the countless blessings bestowed upon us. Gratitude allows us to shift our focus from our desires to God's will and purposes. It opens our hearts to receive His guidance and prompts us to align our plans and ambitions with His divine agenda.
Brothers and sisters, as we genuinely accept the journey of doing God's will, we can find deep fulfillment and purpose. Remember that God's desires for our lives are far greater than anything we could conceive. By surrendering our will to His and aligning our steps with His guidance, we walk in the center of His perfect plan. Let us trust in His wisdom, seek His presence, and embrace the joy of living a life that honors and reflects His will.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom found in Your Word. Help us to receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior and to live our lives rooted in Him. Strengthen our faith, Lord, to trust in Your perfect will even when uncertain or challenging. Fill our hearts with gratitude and open our eyes to see the beauty of Your plan for our lives. May we live each day with a deep desire to do Your will, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen!
